New & Noteworthy J-pop of the Week (June 8, 2025)

New and Noteworthy J-popIn reference to my need to completely sustain with the J-pop trade, I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up of any new releases which have caught my ear. A few of these could have been coated on the weblog already, however my hope is that it will grow to be a one-stop store for anybody all in favour of what’s new in J-pop.

With that in thoughts, right here’s the place you are available: I’m one particular person with one set of musical preferences, so please embed some other new J-pop tracks you’ve loved within the feedback so we will get a fuller spectrum every week.

*And identical to I do with my opinions, I’ll wait till full variations of songs can be found earlier than posting them on this round-up. This may principally apply to Starto teams, who nonetheless restrict nearly all of their YouTube uploads to shorter, edited variations.

aoen – The Blue Solar (tune of the week!)

I wrote about this right here. I preferred it!

Ando Tomoaki (ORβIT) – Melting Rain

Moody and boring.

BUDDiiS – LÖVE ME

Generic summer time boy group pop. I assume it really works in a pinch, however I hate the pointless tempo shifts.

Generations – Magic Hour

This mid-tempo entice sound with auto-tuned vocals isn’t my factor in any respect.

GINTA & misono – TORICO (tune of the week!)

I can’t inform if that is superior or horrible, however I’m digging the power. At the very least it has a pulse!

INI – Dominance

Gosh, their music is simply circling the drain. What occurred?? I hate this type of boy group tune. It’s only a bunch of empty bluster.

lol – Ever After

I assume that is their disbandment tune. It appears like one, which is to be anticipated.

Could’n – The SEA Has Desires

She was lately on this weirdly addictive Chinese language present “Sing! Asia” however sadly didn’t try this nicely with the judges. This tune has good power and an optimistic tone.

Mrs. Inexperienced Apple – Breakfast

That is in all probability the closest we’ve gotten to the upbeat Magic since 2023 however the tune isn’t practically as sturdy, sadly.

Naniwa Danshi – Gira Gira Summer time

Just a little of this sound goes a great distance. On this case, it’s all a little bit annoying.

Information – Chankapana (English Model)

Does anybody truly choose/hearken to English variations of established J-pop tracks? I definitely didn’t want an English model of this basic and may barely make out the lyrics anyway.

NMB48 – Kibô Ressha

A reasonably standard-sounding 48 monitor. Nothing actually stands proud to me.

One Love One Coronary heart – Hoshi no shōmei

Actually not one among their stronger singles (it’s very J-pop by the numbers), however I’ll at all times be glad to listen to extra from this group.

PG – Konnichiwa!

It’s cute, I assume.

The Sixth Lie – Are You There? (ft. Nagi)

That is so quick, however I actually just like the sound and pounding depth.

SixTONES – Boyz

Not the strongest factor I’ve heard from them, however I’m glad to have one other straight-ahead rock banger.

STAYC – Lover, Killer

I discover this a bit flat. The melodies don’t have a lot punch or hookiness.

Travis Japan – Burning Love

An Elvis Presley cowl for a Lilo & Sew soundtrack sung by a Starto group? That’s a wild mixture and that is innocent fluff.

TWS – Bloom (ft. Ayumu Imazu) (tune of the week!)

I wrote about this right here. I preferred it and it’s a simple spotlight of the week.

Yuko Suzuhana – Kesara Basara (tune of the week!)

That is type of pleasant. You solely get this type of stuff in Japan!

Stereo Dive Basis – Storyseeker (2021)

I completely love Stereo Dive Basis’s music, and this would possibly simply be my favourite. The refrain is so huge and joyful.
