New & Noteworthy J-pop of the Week (February 9, 2025)

New and Noteworthy J-popIn reference to my need to completely sustain with the J-pop business, I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up of any new releases which have caught my ear. A few of these could have been lined on the weblog already, however my hope is that this can turn out to be a one-stop store for anybody interested by what’s new in J-pop.

With that in thoughts, right here’s the place you are available: I’m one particular person with one set of musical preferences, so please embed every other new J-pop tracks you’ve loved within the feedback so we are able to get a fuller spectrum every week.

*And identical to I do with my evaluations, I’ll wait till full variations of songs can be found earlier than posting them on this round-up. It will largely apply to Johnny’s teams, who nonetheless restrict nearly all of their YouTube uploads to shorter, edited variations.

2023-2024 Index

2025 Index: Dec 29 – Jan 11 // Jan 12 – Jan 18 // Jan 19 – Jan 25 // Jan 26 – Feb 1

Ae group! – Colourful Days

At some point Starto Leisure will begin releasing music I like once more. Right this moment shouldn’t be that day, and this isn’t that music.

BE:FIRST – Spacecraft

It’s good listening to them sing a bit extra through the verses, however total I proceed to battle with this group. I simply don’t discover their music that fascinating.

Colour – It’s Model New

That is for the Exile followers that like once they lean into slower R&B. Sadly, I’m not that fashion of Exile fan.

CZ’24 – Reply

That is from of EBiDAN’s many trainee teams however I assumed it was catchy sufficient to incorporate.

ENVii GABRIELLA – Psycho Dance

This can be a enjoyable, comparatively unknown group with just a few bangers of their arsenal. We will safely add Psycho Dance to the checklist, I feel!

Generations – True Or Doubt

Good and funky, although it looks like there are dozens of songs like this launched each month.

Genic – Unstoppable / Step By Step!! / Maison Genic / Parade!! (music of the week!)

Genic’s new album was my major J-pop second of the week. Total, it’s most likely my least favourite launch from them however I may craft a killer EP from its tracks and that’s nothing to complain about! The only It’s Showtime continues to reign supreme, however I like these 4 b-sides as nicely.

Hiromitsu Kitayama – Osmosis (music of the week!)

He launched a particular digital EP this week. A lot of the new songs really feel extraneous, however this EDM-meets-rock stunner immediately works its manner into the higher echelon of his discography. It’s such an enormous sound.

The Jet Boy Bangerz -B.A.D (Breaking All Locations)

This simply appears like reheated Ok-pop to me.

Juice=Juice – Hatsukoi no Bourei

This has a pleasant traditional J-pop sound. I actually like a few of the synths used within the verses.

Man With A Mission – Reaching For The Sky

I wrote about this final week however now it has an mv.

milet – I Nonetheless

As good as her voice is, that is a lot too gradual for me.

Moonbyul – Aurora

I wrote about this right here. I assumed it was fairly boring.

Naniwa Danshi – Doki It

I’ve actually fallen out with Naniwa Danshi’s music. This looks like a retread for them.

natori – Dressing Room

Followers of this ultra-trendy sound will take pleasure in this. I’ve sort of had my fill already.

Fragrance – Human Manufacturing facility (music of the week!)

I cherished their final album and this looks like an extension of that so I find it irresistible too. The synths are so good.

Polaris – LarmeR

A tried and true J-pop system. It’s nice.

Sakurazaka46 – Udagawa Technology

They’d such an unbelievable 2024. This isn’t fairly up their with their greatest work, however it’s nonetheless a ton of enjoyable.

Scandal – Doukashiterutte

I’m not tremendous conversant in their discography, however this feels a little bit totally different (lighter?) for them. It’s groovy.

WANDS – Capturing Star

A strong rock monitor.

Revalcy – White Of Crime (2014)

My newest in an extended line of underknown Daisuke Asakura produced bangers which might be value anybody’s time.
