After debuting with a barely bratty sound, Child DONT Cry have made a seemingly everlasting transition into shiny pop music. Although their current pre-release Shapeshifter didn’t do a lot for me, there’s no denying that its an earworm. The refrain continues to be caught in my head. Subsequent up is title observe Bittersweet, which adheres to a equally light-weight pop palette.
This sound is pretty innocuous and unmabitious, however it’s nice to the ear. The group’s clear, youthful vocals match the type properly even when the performances do little to differentiate Bittersweet from another present lady group observe. The lacking piece here’s a “wow issue.” Its as if the dial for the entire music is ready at a “7” when it may have been cranked as much as “10.” We’d like some memorable synth line or percussion that hits with extra character. As is, the music has been shaved of all edges and comes throughout as frictionless. And with none structural momentum, Bittersweet (pleasantly) treads water with out even trying to swim.
Writing about “nice” songs like that is really sort of tough, and it appears like that’s all I’ve been doing for the previous few months. There’s nothing about Bittersweet that’s poorly produced or carried out. It ticks all of the “fundamental pop music” bins and I suppose in case you’d by no means heard a pop music earlier than it might need a extra thrilling impact. Sadly, I’ve heard many hundreds of pop songs in my life and there’s not a lot about Bittersweet that stands out inside that pantheon.
