ATEEZ have had a busy few weeks. Contemporary off their newest comeback, the group has launched into one other large world tour and re-signed with their company for an unprecedented seven (!) extra years. Now, they’ve launched a particular version of their newest album with new English-language monitor In Your Fantasy and a solo track from every member. To say followers have been feasting seems like an understatement.

Better of all, this new music is fairly nice. Lemon Drop loved an extended keep on my playlist than any ATEEZ single since 2022’s Guerilla and In Your Fantasy builds upon that high quality. With this track, the fellows get funkier than they’ve been in a very long time (possibly ever?). The manufacturing has a mid-career Timbaland crunch. Assume Sexyback however make it Ok-pop. Its robotic groove and jagged synths are each nostalgic and classy and I like how the rhythm maintains its drive throughout. Just a few bonus components would have added larger melodic flourish, however beggars can’t be choosers.

Whereas we’re on the subject of my favourite topic (melody), I’d be mendacity if I mentioned I didn’t miss the sky-high choruses of ATEEZ’s greatest work. In Your Fantasy is an icier beast, thriving on staccato supply and truncated hooks that play into its rhythm, however a killer bridge or post-chorus might have added the lacking aspect to make this an plain triumph. As a substitute, In Your Fantasy works as a robust — considerably sonically uncharacteristic — extension of ATEEZ’s very stable 2025.
