Bobby Brown is not holding again with regards to his emotions about different singers masking his songs.
Throughout a latest chat on the Membership Shay Shay podcast, Brown revealed what he actually thinks about Britney Spears‘ cowl of his 1988 tune “My Prerogative.”
Spoiler alert: He wasn’t a fan.
“Britney Spears butchered ‘My Prerogative.’ Teddy Riley produced it. However that was a butchering. I could not take it,” Brown admitted.

Brown shared that he gave the pop icon his blessing to report the tune as he believed she was going to “wow” him, however he was in the end left disenchanted by her rendition.
The truth is, Brown, who was beforehand married to late music legend Whitney Houston, mentioned he believes no artist has really performed his songs “justice” when masking or sampling them.

Spears’ followers rapidly defended their queen on-line after Brown’s harsh critique made waves on social media.
“Bobby Brown actually mentioned Britney Spears butchered ‘Prerogative’ regardless of him clearing the tune. I DISAGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY,” one fan wrote on X (previously Twitter).
“Pay attention, I get it. I might even be mad if somebody did a canopy of my tune and did it so a lot better than I did that everybody thought my tune was theirs,” one other person wrote.
“Britney Spears’ model was so fireplace most didn’t notice it was a canopy,” another person weighed in.
Spears’ cowl of “My Prerogative” appeared on her 2004 album Biggest Hits: My Prerogative.
Spears, in the meantime, isn’t any stranger to sampling songs.
In 2022, she collaborated with Elton John on the tune “Maintain Me Nearer,” which options the refrain of his basic 1972 tune “Tiny Dancer.”
